Selphie Slots
Please take note.
There seems to be an interwoven relationship with women and magic. In Final Fantasy VIII’s world, it seems as if anyone can draw magic. But any woman can conceivably be a sorceress.

- Selphie's Limit Break is Slot that selects a spell and the amount of times it will be cast using a process based on Selphie's level, Crisis Level and a random factor. If an undesirable spell is chosen, the player can 'do over', and the process is repeated to select another spell.
- Moreover, I think 'Slots' is a gamified hand-waving of Selphie trying to recollect forgotten spells. Think Tellah's 'Recall' ability from FF4. When used, he tried to Recall a random spell for free, including spells he hasn't 'learned'.

- When you select Selphie's Slot, a menu of spells will appear at the bottom of the screen. In the menu you will find regular spells, and spells with numbers by them. The numbers indicate the amount of times the spell will be cast. There is also an option to 'Do Over', which replaces the current spell with a new one.
And the females in Final Fantasy VIII have the highest magical ability.
Somehow, Squall’s half-sister Ellone (Big Sis) has the innate ability to fling a person’s consciousness into time. Quistis can learn an enemy’s skill and mimic it through Blue Magic. Rinoa and Edea actually inherited sorceress powers. But one woman’s magical powers exceed even the final antagonist, the sorceress Ultimecia. And that’s Selphie Tilmitt.
Like the other females, Selphie’s able to use magic outside the normal junction function. They are:
Full Cure – Restores all party members’ HP and removes all status effects.
Wall – Casts Protect and Shell on all party members.
Rapture – Wings appear and carry enemies away. It does not work on enemies immune to eject.
The End – The party instantaneously wins the battle. Works against all enemies apart from undead creatures and the percentile range for this particular slot coming up is low.
Let’s talk about The End for a second. It’s a very power limit break. So powerful, it can kill every enemy (except for the undead)…including bosses. So if you have Selphie in your party as you’re fighting Ultimecia, she’s as good dead. If you use The End.
So what is The End?
The End (ジエンド, Ji Endo?) is a recurring ability in the series. It is the ultimate Limit Break for Selphie Tilmitt, which defeats all enemies and ignores immunity to Instant Death, much like the similar Slots ability Game Over and Joker’s Death, with the exception of undead enemies.
The End is the rarest ability that Selphie can use from her Slots Limit Break, only appearing at the very end of the Slots list in Slot set 15 and with a very low chance of appearing. It defeats any enemy in the game excluding undead. During battles with multiple phases, it will instantly end that phase and move onto the next phase.

Also, The End is a play on words. While it might be “the end” of enemies, it’s also the scene at the end of the game:
Squall finds himself in a place gradually slipping into nothingness. He tries to concentrate on Rinoa to make his way back home but is unable to picture her face. In the present era, Rinoa waits for Squall at the flower field at Edea’s orphanage. She transforms a flower petal into a white feather that locates Squall trapped in lost time. He grasps the feather but is too weak to make his way back and falls unconscious, but Rinoa finds him and brings him back to the real world.

Rinoa knows about the flower field at Edea’s orphanage, but Selphie is the only one who’s able to cast it. She, in order to link everyone else to each other, casts The End to bring them home. The Limit Break kills all of the monsters in the area.
But why is The End so power? Maybe it’s because Selphie is a sorceress. Probably from an alternative time in Final Fantasy. And maybe this is why all women have the potential to be sorceresses. Maybe from the infinite amounts of timelines, sorceresses find different women to transfer their power to. Maybe in this timeline, Ultimecia possesses Rinoa, whereas another sorceress possesses Selphie. Ans Selphie’s sorceress was more powerful than Ultimecia, and maybe even the agent working against her all along.
